If you'd listen to the media recently, you'd think US Track and Field had been shut out in these Olympics. Or you'd think that there are simply no other world-class athletes out there who are capable of winning medals based on their merits. (There's a reason the term is "world class" by the way...because other athletes around the world are often just as good as ours.)
Well, Ben and Jeremy over at Less Than Our Best have a "truth bomb" for all those who are freaking out over how our track and field team has performed in Beijing. Sure, we haven't done as well as we expected. But is that because we've underperformed, or because we "over-expected". Given how good Bolt and the Jamaicans are running, I'd argue we primarily "over-expected".
What do you think?
